MONTPELIER — The Vermont Supreme Court has upheld the lifetime judicial ban on former Windham County Assistant Judge Paul Kane, who was publicly reprimanded this spring by the Vermont Judicial Conduct Board for his handling of the $767,000 estate of an elderly Bellows Falls woman.

Kane, who resigned from his four-year term as a side judge earlier this year, was sharply rebuked by the state’s highest court for his handling of the financial affairs of his aunt’s husband’s second wife, Catherine “Kay” Tolaro.
