MO NAELA President Testified Before Senate on Financial Abuse of Seniors

The Senate Aging Committee held a hearing,Trust Betrayed: Financial Abuse of Older Americans by Guardians and Others in Power. Current NAELA Missouri Chapter President Jessica Kruse testified in her own capacity.

According to the Senate Aging Committee, the hearing examines the financial abuse of older adults within the context of fiduciary relationships and other relationships of trust. The Committee also unveiled the GAO’s latest study on guardianship abuse, building off a 2010 study that “found hundreds of cases of abuse, neglect, and exploitation and identified $5.4 million that had been improperly diverted.”


Prince heirs urge appointment of new special administrator (MN)

Several of Prince’s family members are urging a Carver County judge to appoint a new special administrator for Prince’s estate, according to court filings.

In documents filed Tuesday in Carver County District Court, attorneys for Prince’s sister say Tyka Nelson, as well as other family members and their counsel, have spent the last two months looking for a replacement for Bremer Trust, National Association, the current special administrator. They would like Fiduciary Trust Company International or Comerica Bank & Trust N.A. to take over.

Prins skipped a Bexar County Probate Court date today despited being ordered to appear for a hearing on whether he should be held in contempt of court.
