Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson’s endeavor to entirely cut out his estranged heirs from ownership in the teams reaches a critical juncture Wednesday (May 25).

Lawyers for the 88-year-old billionaire and the trustees overseeing trust funds for his daughter and grandchildren will be in court debating whether Benson’s team ownership lawsuit should go to trial in federal court next month.

Would-be Prince heirs have a problem with blood and genetic tests required of anyone claiming to be relatives of the late music icon, according to new court records.

Two people making claims on the singer’s multimillion dollar estate said the scientific screening requirements go too far.

 

Lawyer: Eagles’ Randy Meisner doing well under voluntary conservatorship

An attorney for Eagles co-founder Randy Meisner said Wednesday that his client is doing well under a voluntary temporary conservatorship and criticized attempts by a former friend of the musician to have someone else appointed to look after his medical and financial needs.

Lawyer Bruce Fuller told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge William Barry that Meisner’s longtime friend, Arthur Ford, is making sure the 70-year-old bassist receives proper health care and that Meisner’s accountant, Thomas DeLong, is properly overseeing his business affairs.

New Orleans Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson’s bid to remove his stranged heirs from ownership in the teams will be debated in U.S. District Court in New Orleans this morning.

NOLA.com reports that lawyers for the 88-year-old billionaire and trustees who are overseeing the trust fund for his daughter and grandchildren will discuss whether Benson’s team ownership lawsuit should go to federal court next month. It will be heard in the court of U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo.
