Washington Times

May 5, 2016

NEW ORLEANS (AP) – The estranged daughter and grandchildren of New Orleans Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson say they won’t abandon their effort to prove their patriarch has been manipulated into appointing his third wife the sole heir to his sports empire.

Renee Benson and her children, Rita and Ryan LeBlanc, were dealt a legal setback this week when the Louisiana Supreme Court declined to hear their appeal of a lower court decision last June that deemed Tom Benson competent to manage his own affairs.

Prince dead only 2 weeks: Fighting among siblings as new heirs pop up?

May 5, 2016

Prince died two weeks ago and during the time since his death a profile of the singer has emerged, which is much different than the reported clean and healthy lifestyle that his staff originally offered up. New reports have emerged that Prince did have Percocet in his system when he died, but the toxicology reports aren’t back yet and those tests will indicate just how much of the painkiller he had on board when he died.

The investigation revealed Percocet pills on Prince and they were also found around the house, but yet detectives could not find a doctor who wrote a prescription for the pain medication for Prince anywhere. There is no trace of a viable script written for the celebrity anywhere they’ve looked. Right now investigators are questioning all the people in Prince’s closest circle attempting to find out who was supplying the drug to the iconic star.

Trustee: Tom Benson lacks NFL, NBA’s approval to remove Saints, Pelicans shares from trusts; case should be dismissed (TX/LA)

The Advocate

May 6, 2016

A federal judge should dismiss Tom Benson’s lawsuit seeking to remove non-voting shares in the Saints and Pelicans from a group of trusts benefiting his estranged relatives because neither the NFL nor the NBA has provided the required approval for such a transaction, an official overseeing some of the trusts argued in a court filing this week.

Further, the leagues won’t render that approval as long as Benson’s lawsuit is pending, dealing another blow to his case, trustee Mary Rowe contended.
