This day commemorating the July 4, 1776, adoption of our Declaration of Independence is often associated with fireworks, parades and barbecues, but let us not forget that first and foremost – it’s about freedom. Freedom from oppression, freedom from tyrannical rule and summed up by this most simple yet poignant declaration:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
Those rights are currently under assault on so many fronts. Estate of Denial™ is doing our part to address inheritance rights and other probate abuses, but today – we (nor anyone else) can afford to be a one-trick pony. People must become aware and engaged regarding our overall political and economic environment. Now more than ever, decisions made today will impact Americans for generations to come. You must decide to become an informed part of the solution or just one more piece of the problem.
And as EoD continues our “shining light on the dark side of estate management” mission, we recently came across this Thomas Jefferson quote that reflects our strategy and seems especially appropriate at this holiday:
The force of public opinion cannot be resisted when permitted freely to be expressed. The agitation it produces must be submitted to.
We’ll certainly do our best to keep the agitation ongoing.
