Janalyn Bornstein entered a plea of not guilty today on criminal charges related to a roughly $800,000 estate that should have gone to the Tennessee Children’s Home.
Her husband, Daryl Bornstein will be arraigned Friday in Davidson County Criminal Court on nine felony counts of theft from the estate that former Metro firefighter Raymond Simmons left for the home in his will when he died May 4, 2006. Bornstein was executor of Simmon’s estate.
On Friday, Judge Steve Dozier will also consider a motion to reduce Bornstein’s bail, which was set at $2,250,000. He is charged with three counts of theft of property of $60,000 or more and six counts of theft of property between $1,000 and $10,000.
Janalyn Bornstein posted bond on her five counts, each for theft between $1,000 and $10,000.
