Former probate judge vies for Rhode Island AG spot

A former Rhode Island probate judge, Robert E. Rainville, is one of five candidates running for state attorney general.  In a recent article, Rainville is described as “a former West Warwick probate judge who concentrates in real estate law, owns a title company and formerly worked as a lobbyist for pharmacists, Donald Trump and the Care New England health-care system.”

The article further characterizes Rainville:

Rainville has positioned himself as the most independent of the attorney-general candidates. He said if the office is to be respected as an impartial enforcer of state law, particularly in corruption cases, the attorney general cannot be from any organized political party. To that end, he said, if elected, he would push for legislation that would have future attorney general elections run on a nonpartisan basis.

This EoD posting shows why Rainville, a former probate court judge “likely to be investigated because of complaints about legal fees awarded to lawyers,” became known on the pages of this site.
