A flash from the past

July 23rd, 2010

We’re at The Venetian here in Las Vegas for the Right Online new media activist training conference.  Americans for Prosperity Foundation, the sponsoring organization, has long been supportive of addressing the inheritance rights issue in which probate venues and/or probate instruments (wills, trusts, guardianships, powers of attorney) are used to divert assets from intended beneficiaries.

It’s ironic that our conference site has great historical significance from an estate dispute standpoint as The Venetian stands on property once occupied by The Sands, the hotel Howard Hughes both owned and used as a residence during the last years of his life.  Hughes’ activities during the time spent living at this hotel helped sow the seeds for, upon his death, what became one of the most infamous  estate disputes in American history.
