Defending the American Dream requires daily attention

In today’s world, defending an American Dream that is under continual assault does in fact require daily attention and EstateofDenial.com’s mission of “shining light on the dark side of estate management” is but one piece of that effort.   Every day the need for vigilance becomes more evident as so much is happening with working many situations here in our home state of Texas as well as with hearing from folks across the country.

Tomorrow it’s back to Austin for the Americans for Prosperity Defending the American Dream Summit.  It will be a great opportunity to connect with other activists working a variety of topics/campaigns as well as to learn more about using the internet and other tools for promoting public policy issues.  AFP is an organization that leads grassroots advocacy efforts both at national and state  (Texas and many more) levels.  We’re proud at EoD to be part of this team.  Anyone here in the area desiring to becoming more effectively engaged in the public policy process is encouraged to attend our Austin event.  We’ve also got a national event coming up in Las Vegas.  Click here for details.

Last week, EoD’s Lou Ann Anderson along with a number of other folks (more than 20 in all) testified before the Texas Senate Jurisprudence committee.  Of the seven-member bipartisan committee, our special thanks go out to Chairman Jeff Wentworth (R-San Antonio), Senator John Carona (R-Dallas), Senator Robert Duncan (R-Lubbock) and Senator Chris Harris (R-Arlington) for attending the hearing.

The interim charge again related to guardianships implemented by the Department of Aging and Disabilities and the Department of Adult Protective Services.  While a new EoD column was the original follow-up intent, much occurred that day so for now, we’ll just call your attention to the video link (see Jun 24 Senate Committee on Jurisprudence).  Anderson’s testimony is at 1:54.
